Online Training Was Held on the Topic: “International Scientific Databases Search Mechanism and Remote Access”
On June 18, Caucasus International University hosted an online training on the topic “International Scientific Database Search Mechanism and Remote Access” by the initiative of the Department of Human Resources and the Library. The training was conducted by Nana Khuskivadze and Maia Metreveli, representatives of Innovative Systems Management Ltd.
The training covered the databases of EBSCO Publishing, the mechanisms for using the materials contained in it, all the resources available in the databases, search, filter and citation functions. The meeting was interactive. The online training was attended by the university academic staff, librarians and doctoral students, who received comprehensive information.
Currently, Caucasus International University has access to the international scientific databases of the Ebsco EP Package Elite.
Name and description of electronic databases included in EBSCO EP Package Elite:
- Academic Search Elite - is a rich resource spanning a broad stretch of academic subjects with thousands of full-text journals and abstracted and indexed journals. This database is sourced with PDF images for the great majority of journals;
- Business Source Elite - This database provides full-text coverage of top business, management and economics journals and periodicals. These valuable publications cover various topics (accounting, banking, finance, international business, marketing, sales and more);
- Regional Business News – is a rich database providing full-text regional business publications for the United States and Canadian provinces;
- Newspaper Source - provides complete television and radio news transcripts from the following channels: CBS News, CNN, CNN International, FOX News, NPR and more;
- MasterFILE ELITE - designed specifically for public libraries. This database contains up to 1700 periodicals that provide information on business, health, education, general science, multicultural and many other fields;
- ERIC (the Education Resource Information Center) - offers access to information from various journals indexed as Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index;
- GreenFILE – It is collection of scholarly, government and general-interest materials which includes content such as the impact of environmental factors on individuals, corporations, and local self-government and government, and what we can do to address this;
- Library Information Science &Technology Abstracts (LISTA) – provides indexing of 580 key journals, more than 50 priority journals and approximately 15 selection journals, books, research reports, etc.;
- Medline - about different fields of medicine, such as: nursing, dentistry, veterinary, healthcare system, pre-clinical subjects and others. This database was created by MEDLINE of the National Library of Medicine and uses MeSH (Medical Subject Headings) indexing to access more than 5,600 current medical publications;
- Health Source: Consumer Edition + Nursing/Academic Edition - more than 1000 complete scientific texts on medical disciplines, including critical patient care, mental health, child and adult psychiatric treatment, nursing, nursing management, nursing ethics, addiction and rehabilitation counseling, medical law, reproductive medicine, environment and health.
These databases can be accessed both from the university as well as remotely - using a special password, which is shared by the library staff to interested individuals.
