Nika Tskhvarashvili, Head of Special Penitentiary Service, delivered a public lecture on reforms and resocialization-rehabilitation programs implemented in the penitentiary system for CIU students of Faculty of Law in the “Justice Auditorium” of Caucasus International University on April 3.
The speaker discussed the innovations provided by the new Penal Code, which significantly improves the rights and working conditions of convicts and employees in the penitentiary system. The conversation also touched upon the possibility of convicts to fully benefit from resocialization-rehabilitation programs during the period of serving the sentence, which means participation in sports activities or a full-engagement in educational process, which is enabled by the “Digital University”; taking advantage of employment programs that provide them with additional income.
The meeting was attended by: Professor George Khatidze, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Caucasus International University, Tamta Tsirkvadze – Deputy Dean, faculty academic staff and students.
