A public lecture on the topic: “The Role and Phenomenon of a Kist Woman in Vainakh Society and Modernity” was delivered by Meka Khangoshvili, Doctor of Philology, Human Rights Defender and Expert (in Caucasus Issues) at Caucasus International University on March 7.
The speaker introduced the Vainakh culture to the listeners and emphasized the functions and role of a Kist woman. She clearly conveyed the phenomenon of women in Vainakh society with the examples from the past. In addition, she presented outstanding samples of Kist folklore.
The meeting was attended by the administrative/academic staff of the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, students and individuals interested in the issue.
The meeting was moderated by Giorgi Pareshishvili, adviser to the rector of Caucasus International University.
Please note that Meka Khangoshvili is an organizer of Georgian-Vainakh relations, as well as the cultural history of the Pankisi valley and the issues of development.
Her contribution to the study and education of young people from Pankisi and their integration into the Georgian society is of utmost importance.
