The viticulture and winemaking week offered by Caucasus International University for the 10th, 11th and 12th grade pupils ended.
The project was opened with a tour of CIU Faculty of Viticulture and Winemaking, which was led by the coordinator of the faculty, the general manager of winery “Ethno Okami” Lasha Bodaveli.
Within the framework of the project, the trainees were introduced to the main aspects of both viticulture and tastings, to familiarize themselves with historical facts, they were given a tour of the university cellar and labs.
The first meeting of the week was dedicated to Associate Professor Olani Gotsiridze, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Dean of the Faculty of Viticulture and Winemaking of CIU, on the topic: “Historical Perspective of Viticulture and Winemaking”.
The second meeting was chaired by Shengeli Kikilashvili - Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, CIU scientific member of staff and Assistant Professor, ampelographer of Shumi wine company on the topic: “Viticulture Zones and Recommended Grape Varieties”.
Saba Kitiashvili - enologist, certified sommelier, chief winemaker of “Ethno Okami” winery, Visiting Lecturer of CIU hosted the students at the third meeting on the topic: “Wine Exercises”.
The screening of the film “Georgia is the Homeland of Wine” was held at the end of the project.
Eventually, the participants were awarded appropriate certificates.
