On May 1, a public lecture on the new law of personal data protection was held at Caucasus International University.
The lecture was led by the head of the Legal Advisory of “Grant Thornton Georgia” Nino Jolia and the lawyer of “Grant Thornton Georgia” Nino Nagidze.
The new Georgian law on personal data protection entered into force on March 1, 2024. Legal issues related to personal data protection were formulated in a new way by the mentioned law and brought closer to European standards.
At the meeting they discussed the challenges related to the new legislative regulation and the new obligations imposed on businesses within the framework of the law including: direct marketing and new principles of personal data protection, as well as the institution of the personal data protection officer, which will be implemented and become mandatory from June 1, 2024, and the new data protection impact assessment regulation records.
