Mr. Olan Gotsiridze, Dean of the Faculty of Viticulture-Winemaking, academic personnel and postgraduate students of the faculty attended the premier of the film “Georgia-Homeland of Wine by the invitation of National Wine Agency on December 27, 2018. Based on the information provided by the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, the film is dedicated to those international researches which made a historic discovery and scientifically proved that Georgia is the homeland of wine and our country was the first which started the production of wine 8000 years ago.
Scientific-documentary film is made with the support of the Ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia LEPL National Wine Agency. The director of 40-minte film is Alexandre Gabunia. The filming took place in Georgia as well as US, Italy and France. The scientific supervisor of the project is Davit Lortkipanidze, a member-correspondent of National Academy of Science and coordinator – Davit Maghradze, Doctor of Agricultural Sciences, a scientist of National Wine Agency.
It is noteworthy that the film is for festival and it will be presented at various festival from 2019. The premier was attended Mr. Mamuka Bakhtadze, Prime Minister of Georgia, Mr. Levan Davitashvili, Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia, members of government and parliament as well as representatives of science and culture.
