The activities of the concluding day were held at Tbilisi Cancer Center within the framework of Euromelanoma campaign on June 1, 2019. The Center is an affiliated clinic of Caucasus International University. Ms. Lali Mekokishvili, Dean of CIU Faculty of Medicine, a member of The Association of Photodermatology and Skin Cancer, Dermatologist-Venereologist and residents of Dermatology Program participated in the campaign – The Battle Against Skin Cancer Starts with the Mind.
It is noteworthy that Caucasus International University has become involved in Euromelanoma campaign for the third time. In particular, doctors conducted campaign in Kutaisi in 2017 and students were also participating in examining patients. The university administrative staff were offered free screening in 2018. Dermatologists, oncologists from different clinics in Tbilisi, Gori, Rustavi and the residents of Caucasus International University Dermatology Program have participated in the medical examinations this year.
We would like to remind you that Georgian Association of Photodermatology and Skin Cancer, as a member of International League of Dermatological Societies, has joined the global project: Healthy Skin World Week this year. Euromelanoma has been held for the eighth time in Georgia and covered the majority of the population. Besides the free screening, informational campaign was also significant which has raised people’s awareness in relation to skin cancer and increases the chances to identify the early signs of this disease. The week which aimed at promoting the maintenance of healthy skin was held in parallel with Euromelanoma campaign.
