On the occasion of the Day of the Georgian Language, Sesili Gogiberidze, PhD, Head of the Scientific Research Department of Caucasus International University, was awarded for her special contribution to the protection and development of the Georgian language.
The Ministry of Education, Science and Youth of Georgia and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia awarder her the relevant certificate.
Sesili Gogiberidze is a researcher of ancient Georgian literature. For many years, she was a docent of the Department of Old Georgian Literature at Tbilisi State University, a researcher at Georgian Studies Center of TSU. The topic of her dissertation thesis is “English Translations of “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin”. In her work, Sesili Gogiberidze examines four translations of “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin”: Marjory Wardrop, Venera Urushadze, Robert Stevenson and Catherine Vivien. Based on the comparative analysis of these translations, she examines the development process of the translation of “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin”. “The immortal creation of Rustaveli is not only a relic of Georgia, but also a “visit card”. That’s why the translation of “The Knight in the Panther’s Skin” and the creative search related to it are the work of many generations of scientists”, notes Sesili Gogiberidze.
In addition, it should be noted that Sesilo Gogiberidze, as the head of the Scientific Research Department of Caucasus International University, is involved in the projects promoting Georgian literature.
