The International Day of Students has been celebrated on November 17 since 1946. Magti Club hosted the traditional event held for successful students of the leading universities of Tbilisi who are refugees from Abkhazia. The event was initiated and organized by the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia in relation to this date.
The festive meeting was attended by seven students from the various faculties of Caucasus International University who have the status of Internally Displaced from Abkhazia and high academic performance (Ilona Shonia, Mariam Gerliani, Manuela Kozmava, Monika Ardashelia, Tamuna Tsikolia, Giorgi Karchava and Kristina Tupuria). In addition, the representatives of Public Relations Service – Marina Ugulava and Dea Mchedlishvili also attended the event.
The event was attended by the authorities of Georgian Government and Parliament, Rectors of Higher Educational Institutions, members of the Supreme Council of Abkhazia and Government as well as other invited guests.
Successful young ensembles, singers, solo singers of Tbilisi City Hall School of Art and State Choral Chapel of Abkhazia participated in the event.
Ms.Marina Ugulava, specialist of Public Relations Service addressed the attending audience and students during the event. She thanked the organizers of the event ad congratulated students on the International Day of Students.
Ms. Marina Ugulava encourages the youth to study and continued the theme of the famous quote by Isaac Newton which was uttered by Elguja Gvazava, chairperson of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia. She noted that the youth are “bigger” than their fathers just because they stand on their shoulders.
Ms.Marina Ugulava awarded seven CIU students with the presents prepared by the university.
