On November 9, 2018 Tamar Giorgobiani, Supervisor of Caucasus International University Educational Programs in Medicine where language of instruction is Georgian and English, Nino Sikharulidze, coordinator of Quality Assurance Service at the Faculty of Medicine and Ekaterine Kipiani, head of Clinical Skills Centre presented a detailed report of two educational visits implemented by the financial support of the university.
In the first case Professor Tamar Giorgobiani and Nino Sikharulidze attended the world second summit organized by Association of Medical Education in Europe and a conference on medical education (Switzerland, Basel). The following significant issues were discussed: competence based medical education (CBME), program integration, program based Learning (PBL), clinical thinking, students’ engagement in educational process, team-based learning (TBL). CIU representatives obtained information about the innovations and their introduction-implementation which is the main standard of modern medical education nowadays. Tamar Giorgobiani and Nino Sikharulidze had an opportunity to meet the experts of the filed during the visit and obtain information directly from them.
Ekaterine Kipiani, in the second report summarized the visit implemented on October 24-30 in CAMPUS DOCENTO SANT JOAN (Spain, Barcelona). She presented a photo gallery of simulation center, children’s hospital and simulation cabinet to the audience and placed emphasis on the content and technical characteristics of the objectively structured clinical exam (OSCE).
Ekaterine Kipiani introduced the exam held in this format on the base of the CIU Clinical Skills Center in the fall of 2018 and discussed the challenges and possibilities of conducting the test in OSCE method in different university disciplines in the future.
