From 2022, Caucasus International University, under the leadership of Marina Gedevanishvili, Head of the Quality Assurance Service and Maya Ukleba, Professor of the Tourism Program, have participated in German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Project Internationalization in International Tourism Management /Health Tourism 2022-2025.
The aim of the project is to promote the development of medical wellness and spa tourism through joint research, innovative education and a joint undergraduate program, as well as by organizing an international student winter school.
Caucasus International University, in collaboration with partner universities from Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, Croatia, and Ukraine, has launched the joint module Medical Wellness & Spa Management. This module, offered online, awards students 3 ECTS credits upon successful completion.
Since 2022, the university has welcomed 17 DAAD scholarship recipients (including 2 professors and 15 students).
On October 6-12, 2024, within the framework of the project third phase, the German Deggendorf Institute of Technology (TID) hosted the third International Winter School on Health Tourism. DAAD 2024 fellows: Mariam Lukava, Giorgi Jichoev, and Giorgi Shermadini from the Faculty of Business and Technology (Tourism), and Martin Johannes Beck and Dea Shalamberidze from the Faculty of Medicine participated together with the professors. Through the field research, students studied and assessed the wellness potential of the German resort town Bad Birnbach in Bavaria and developed a new product tailored to Generation Z, which received high praise and favorable evaluations.
