The second day of the summer school - “Peace Policy and Trust Restoration with the Occupied Regions” organized by Caucasus International University was opened with a lecture on the topic: “The Significance of International Formats in Conflict Resolution”.
The lecture was led by Zviad Zviadadze, Head of the Department of Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia and Former Autonomous District of South Ossetia, Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
The speaker reviewed in detail the Geneva peace talks and the so-called “Abashidze-Karasin” formats, as well as the mechanism of incident prevention and response to them, discussed the opportunities and difficulties in the mentioned formats and he answered the audience’s questions in the second part of the meeting.
The second lecture of the day was delivered by political scientist and conflict expert Ivliane Khaindrava on the topic: “Regional Conflicts (Karabakh and Transnistria)”.
The speaker reviewed the origins of the mentioned conflicts, opposing parties, military-political and security issues.
It should be noted that about 40 students from 13 state and private higher education institutions are involved in the summer school of Caucasus International University, which is held with the support of the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality.
The students will be given lectures for a week, and at the end of the week the school will be closed with field activities.
