The following issues were discussed during the meeting: the necessity to coordinate the activities of different institutions, to work out a joint strategy and action plan which will be later submitted to the Prime Minister of Georgia. Meeting participants intend, with the supervision of the Prime Minister, to initiate the establishment of a state commission in order to resolve the issues concerning river Duruji.
They have agreed to create the information portal “Duruji”, research, find and later upload data regarding the issues of the river Duruji on the website. In addition, it is envisaged to publish a book, to prepare a film and to arrange and display a constant exposition at Memorial Museum of Ilia Chavchavadze.
Consultation meetings with different governmental structures are planned. In addition, business forums will be organized with the support of potential investors.
Within the frameworks of the meeting, the issue of ratifying a joint memorandum between local governance of Kvareli and Caucasus International University were discussed. In particular, CIU will train managers of Kvareli municipality in the field of international relations. Furthermore, the strategy for international collaboration of Kvareli Region will be worked out.
The meeting was organized within the frameworks of the project “Informational-Analytical Support of Ukraine during OSCE Chairmanship” with the support of Caucasus Institute of Regional Security, Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly Georgian National Committee and the Embassies of Switzerland and Georgia. Project partners and co-organizers are: The Embassy of Ukraine in Georgia and Caucasus International University.
