On March 27, a public lecture on the topic: “EU Competition Law” was held at the Justice Auditorium of Caucasus International University (CIU). The event was organized by the Faculty of Law.
The lecture was delivered by Solomon Menabdishvili, Doctor of Law, Professor, Head of the Jean Monnet Chair “Closer to the European Union” at Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University.
Before the event, George Khatidze, Dean of the Faculty of Law at Caucasus International University, introduced the guest, highlighted the speaker’s professional achievements in the field, and placed emphasis on the significance of the topic being discussed.
Within the framework of the public lecture, Solomon Menabdishvili addressed the audience on the development of EU competition law, its regulatory mechanisms and its compliance with Georgia. Additionally, he discussed key topics such as cartel agreements, abuse of dominant market position, mergers and concentrations, state aid, and the unique aspects of competition law regulation. Emphasis was placed on the development of Georgian competition law, the commitments undertaken through the EU Association Agreement and practical case studies related to these issues.
The second part of the session was interactive, and the audience had opportunity to receive answers to their questions of interest.
The lecture was attended by students from the Faculty of Law, as well as academic and administrative staff.
