A public lecture on the topic: “Hotel Industry Restart Opportunities in Georgia”, which was led by Elene Otarashvili, General Manager of Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi, Co-Founder and Member of the Board of Directors of the Georgian Business Tourism Association was organized by CIU Tourism Laboratory on November 15.
Within the framework of the lecture, the speaker discussed the current state of the hotel industry in Georgia and the existing challenges that have arisen in this regard compared to the most active situation in 2019 in the country. The speaker also examined the Georgian government support policy for the tourism sector and the existing opportunities for job seekers. She also highlighted the causal links between the outflow of unqualified staff in the tourism sector, and encouraged students to pursue professional development and introduced the relevant qualification requirements that will arise in case of anticipated overload of the sector.
The speaker also discussed the opening of the hotel “Golden Tulip Design Tbilisi” and the employment opportunities for students in this area.
At the end, Lali Mikeladze, Head of the CIU Undergraduate Program in Tourism, thanked the guest for an interesting lecture and announced that the University plans to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Georgian Business Tourism Association in the near future in ooder to help students develop practical components.
