The Faculty of Business and Technology of Caucasus International University has launched a student project – “Business Research in Support of Sustainable Development”.
The Dean of the faculty, Marika Kldiashvili, discussed with us the details of the project.
What is the goal and topic of the project?
The main goal of the project is to promote the development of research and analytical skills of students and the promotion of research activities among the younger generation. At the same time, our great desire is that these studies have the possibility of practical application. That’s why we chose one of the important topics of the current stage for the business community as a research topic, we worked closely with our partners.
Our partners are: Retail Trade Association, Distribution Association, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and USAID Agricultural Development Program. The agreed theme of the project is food loss management - food loss reduction, waste generation reduction, prevention, recycling and reuse.
What does the project mean?
The first stage of the project is a student study of the Faculty of Business and Technology. Five teams are selected from students and entrants of different programs of the faculty, they will be given thematic trainings and then a three-week express research will be implemented. At the end of the competition, the results of the research will be discussed and an ideation will be held, where the participants themselves will try to propose ways to solve the identified problems of the sector. The project is led by the Marketing Research Laboratory, and the members of the jury will be high-level representatives of the management of our partner organizations.
The second phase of the project, a larger-scale study, will be carried out in autumn, involving staff, academic and visiting staff and representatives of other faculties.
