The holy remains of Ketevan the Martyr have been moved from the Simon Janashia National Museum to the Holy Trinity Cathedral. His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia, Ilia II, congratulated the parish on bringing the holy remnants to homeland.
“Very often we are asked why Georgian people have such strong faith? How can a nation with so many saints like: hundreds of thousands of martyrs, Tamar King, Saint Nino, St. Ketevan be without faith.... Georgian people joined the sky. The sky and the country have been united. It is the celebration of heaven and the earth. Our beloved queen, her majesty Queen Ketevan has returned to us. I would like to express my sincere gratitude towards everyone who has done it and who has found those sacred parts of Ketevan. These are our clergy. I want to say thank you to the Minister of Culture, Mr. Mikheil Giorgadze ... I thank the Government of India, the Ambassador of India and the representatives of Georgia who have come here as well”- stated the Patriarch.
Queen Ketevan’s holy remains will remain in the Holy Trinity Cathedral for a day. On September 25, at 11:00 the grave mound will be taken to Avchala church of Ketevan the Martyr and then Alaverdi Cathedral.
